How do I find all files above a certain size while ignoring certain directories (using a bash script)view story

http://stackoverflow.com – so I'm trying to use bash to find all files above 500MB. I have been able to accomplish this using find ~ size +500M. However, the output contains a lot of python library files that aren't relevant to my search. So how do I adjust this command (using bash or grep or awk) so that it excludes certain directories (for example /webapps/lib/python2.7/) Thanks for the help in advance, everyone. (HowTos)

Google-Backed Company Partners With Ancestry To Beat Agingview story

http://hardforum.com – This plan to come up with a pill that will help us all live longer seems a bit far fetched. Then again, the company in question is backed by Google so who knows? ;) On Tuesday, Calico, the medical research company Google incubated in 2013, announced it had cut a deal for access to genetic information from Ancestry, the largest family tree website. Is it possible to disable drive signature verification on Windows 8?view story

http://superuser.com – When installing drivers, sometimes we need for the system to not ask for confirmation to the user (i.e: unattended or remote installations). A good example of this is the TAP network driver for Windows used on OpenVPN. I have found methods to disable this driver check for any pre-8 Windows. For Windows 8 it keeps requesting for the user to accept installation. (HowTos)

Linux equivalent of Android iBinderview story

http://stackoverflow.com – I'm trying to find out how to share memory in Linux like how you can do with iBinder in Android. I looked into shm (ie shm_open, mmap) but it doesn't already come with transaction threads management. I'm also pretty new to all this. How do you implement this in Linux? (HowTos)

Upmix 2.0 stereo sound to 3.0 (left, front-center, right) sound?view story

http://superuser.com – My AV receiver can upmix 2.0 stereo to 5.1 surround. However, I am not interested in doing this. I don't want 2.0 tracks to have rear surround audio. 2.0 stereo is assumed to be heard in a one-dimensional speaker setup: As such, I want a 3.0 upmix: As opposed to a two-dimensional surround mix: That way, when sounds in the 2.0 mix are intended to be coming from the center (ex. Where do “Modern UI” Windows apps store data? Can they share it with desktop programs?view story

http://superuser.com – The “Modern UI” (i.e. app) version of Dropbox has default behavior like that of Dropbox for Android – it show the files, but does not download them until they are clicked on or favorited. Presumably this is because mobile platforms tend to have less storage available. I have been maintaining multiple local copies of my Calibre library synced by dropbox. (HowTos)

Word shortcut to start bulleted listview story

http://superuser.com – I know there exists a keyboard shortcut CTRL+SHIFT+L to create a new bullet point, but this does not add the appropriate indentation. Is there a keyboard shortcut that exists or that I can define to emulate the behavior of clicking on the bulleted list button? (HowTos)
