FireWire to USB 2.0 adapter - does it work?view story

http://superuser.com – I need to connect to my FireWire disk but dont have a firewire port on my laptop. I was thinking about using FireWire-USB adapter. I read online that USB's max data throughput is 480 Mbit/s and Firewire's is 400 Mbit/s, so 2.0 adapter should work out fine, right? What else do I need to know to connect it? (HowTos)
