Debugging a solaris network issueview story

http://unix.stackexchange.com – I'm running a Solaris 11 x86 file server. The file-server part is ZFS + Samba. It's been up running for three or four years now without major problems (Gets rebooted every few months). Recently (In the last week or two) It's been dying much too frequently. After booting up, the Samba shares are visible to other PCs on the network. I can read from the file server quite reliably. (HowTos)

Newly installed shorewall fails to startview story

https://bbs.archlinux.org – I got the real fix from user Omache on #shorewall:Omache | that failure is caused by Perl 5.20.Omache | You can work around it by reducing the setting of OPTIMIZE by 8Omache | So if OPTIMIZE=all or OPTIMIZE=31, set it to 23 and it will work My dirty hack was to remove 'use strict' from /usr/share/shorewall/Shorewall/Chains.pm. gmas https://bbs.archlinux.org/profile.php?id=72401 (HowTos)

elvish: An experimental Unix shellview story

https://bbs.archlinux.org – I've been using zsh for years, and have been testing fish on one PC for some time. Mixing nice features of fish with nice features of zsh sounds very nice, and adding a ranger-like navigation mode sounds even better. But this made me think - when I was playing with ranger, I liked its feature of using "f" (IIRC) to look recursively for files in the chosen directory. (HowTos)
