Thinking of moving from Ubuntu to Fedoraview story

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – This is my first post in this forum. I own a small scientific consulting business. Our prime OS is Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit. All PCs are set up for dual boot Ubuntu/Win XP Pro (or Win 7 Pro). All PCs have 8 GB RAM and SSDs. We have legacy applications that require Windows. All PCs use Ubuntu's NTFS config so that we can access fiiles from the Win paritions from Ubuntu. (HowTos)

order of firewalld rich rulesview story

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – How to set execution order of rich rules in firewalld? i know direct interface is one method but that is compatible with iptables. Apart from direct interface , is there any way? When i insert rules normally, its execution order is fixed and display order is not. I want particular rule to be executed before any rule no matter what the default priority is without using direct interface. (HowTos)

Does change of a file in a directory not change the time of the directory?view story

http://unix.stackexchange.com – I want to find a file which I created recently, but I don't remember anything and can only guess it is under a directory indirectly with any possible depth. I inspected the times of all the subdirectories of a directory, but their times are all older than the time I created the file. I wonder why a dir's time isn't updated when a file in it is? If it were you, how would you find the file? (HowTos)

Umlauts cause of hiding files?view story

I'm swiss-german, so naturaly many files of mine contain (from an english (font) perspective only) special characters, such as Umlaute (äöüéàèÄÖÜ). Until now, i never ever had any issues with them, neither when displaying a file its content with "cat file" nor when trying to work with a file using an umlaut in its name as in "cp geänderte-date (HowTos)

http://askubuntu.com – So after installing i386, my screen starts to freeze every time I start doing anything resource intensive. This leads me to have to perform a hard reset. Freeze is defined as: all processes keep working in the background but the display doesn't change. Nothing is clickable but the mouse will move. (HowTos)
