Intel NUC w/ pfSense with DD-WRT/Tomato as VLAN switch?view story

http://hardforum.com – If you had a single nic pfSense box such as a NUC, would using dd-wrt/tomato/openwrt as a managed switch work instead of paying for a gigabit switch that supported VLAN? Would performance be worse with dd-wrt/tomato/openwrt (my thought is the custom firmware adds overhead vs a vlanswitch)? (Hardware)

Installing just Linux Ubuntu by removing ChromeOSview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – A couple of months ago I installed Linux Ubuntu on my Acer C720 Chromebook along side ChromeOS (have to press Ctrl D when I turn it on) and it has been running great. However since it is only a 16gb SSD, there is hardly any space since there are two OS's and having to press Ctrl D on start up and then having to go into the terimal to boot up Linux is getting kinda annoying. High CPU temperatures - why?view story

http://ubuntuforums.org – I just installed 14.04 on a Acer Aspire 4755g - i5 2430m, Nvidia GT540m, 4GB RAM Without running any programs or doing anything at all, the fan is running on mid-speed and the core temperature of the cpu is around 60°. I tried installing Nvidia drivers - nothing. I deactivated the nv graphics card in the BIOS and the temperatures dropped by a few degrees, core temp is now about 50°. (Hardware)

Problem creating Library Debian Packageview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hi, I'm currently trying to create a Debian package of my library 'QTurtle' (written in C++, using Qt, providing 'turtle graphics for Qt's QGraphicsScene, made for a little project), including a -dev package. I've got a directory 'libqturtle-1.0', containing the source code (qturtle.cpp, qturtle.h, qturtle.pro, qturtle_global.h), nothing else. (Hardware)
