[lubuntu] Lubuntu broken after updateview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hi, I installed Lubuntu 13.10 on an old, underpowered laptop, just yesterday. I used it for about two hours with no problem. I thought I should udate it, so I started the update manager from the menu in the lower left corner of my screen. It downloaded and installed a bunch of security, software, and kernel updates. No error messages. (Hardware)

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hi, I have a desktop with a 2.80 ghz dual core processor and 3 gigabytes of ram. I partitioned my harddrive into ~ 45 gigabytes and 30 gigabytes. I put windows 7 on the 45 gig partition and tried to put Trisquel 6.0 on the 30 gig partition. I installed Trisquel on a usb drive a while ago and was able to boot from it before. (Hardware)

Touchscreen/pad acting up on Dell XPS 12view story

http://ubuntuforums.org – I just bought a new Dell XPS 12, partitioned the hard drive, and installed Ubuntu 14.04 on it. One bug that keeps happening is that sometimes after using my laptop for a while or waking it from suspend, the cursor will periodically (every few seconds) move to the top right hand corner of the screen and click on the cog icon, opening up the small settings menu. link /dev/ttyUSBx ??view story

http://ubuntuforums.org – newbie here. I have a Prodigy glucose meter for my diabetes. It can connect via USB to a program that they supply, but the program is Windows only. I installed Wine already for some other things, so I thought I'd try this as well, even though Wine doesn't support USB. I looked at dmesg and saw the device is at /dev/ttyUSB2 which I *think* is a serial device?? (Hardware)

Spam Filtersview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – I am now using Evolution email client in Xubuntu 14.04. When using eM Client in Windows 7 I also used the email filter called Mail Washer. I do not know if Mail Washer works in Linux OSs but I would be pleased to hear any views on the need, or otherwise, to employ a pre-filter when using Evolution. (Hardware)

[gnome] No desktop shortcuts, almost unusable gnomeview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – I just replaced my wife's desktop, an upgrade to a faster machine, after an update to 12.04 rendered the old one almost too slow to use. I decided to install 14.04 on the new machine so it would have the latest and greatest. BIG MISTAKE! I installed Gnome (she hates Unity with a seething passion) and it's now difficult to use, and there's no way to create a shortcut on the desktop. (Hardware)
