[ubuntu] HOWTO: Install ubuntu 12.10 on ASUS G55VW as stand alone OSview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – Not sure why, but this was a nightmare for me, maybe I'm a little rusty but this is how I eventually solved it, if you found an easier way feel free to post it. NOTE: as if writing the open source nvidia drivers in 12.10 don't support the nvidia GTX 660m I disabled secure boot in the BIOS you might now have to, but I know ubuntu's secure boot is somewhat buggy so I decided to not take the chan (Hardware)

Support Is 3g throttled?view story

http://androidforums.com – I'm using prl 9033 to get 3g here in Baton Rouge, but I can't seem to get over 300kbps anymore. When I first installed the PRL I was getting around 2500kbps. I've noticed that when I take a speedtest, the needle rises up to around 1000k like normal, pauses for a couple of seconds, then drops down to below 300k. (General)

New Verizon radio commercial... Wtf?view story

Anyone else know what the heck the purpose of this ad is? It's enigmatic on its own, especially for a wireless company. (HowTos)

Host to VM networking and VM to Host networkingview story

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – I'm running a Fedora 17 desktop system that I've decided to put an OEL 6 virtual machine on. I built the VM first with virtual network NAT the default but discovered that only the host could communicate with it. After reading the available documentation (which I probably should have done first) I found that I needed to use a bridged network on the host so the VM would be available on my LAN. (HowTos)
