In any of the directories and when i type ls -l then there are no write permissions to any of the directories under root and so tried to change it with chmod but chmod is also not working.I am getting the error message (HowTos)

http://www.linuxquestions.org – I've been running Ubuntu for a few years, on a few computers, and I guess I got complacent. I tried installing Mangaka One onto a usb connected to my netbook, an msi wind u100 running its original xp. I wasn't intending grub to installed on my hard drive, but it seems to have been, at least partially. The computer will only boot - even into grub - with the usb stick attached. (HowTos)

http://www.ubuntux.org – I have six computers running both Windows XP and Ubuntu 9.10. When I am running a linux machine I can see all of the computers using Windows but none of the computers running linux. All of the Windows machines are in the same workgroup (obviously). Is there a way to allow the Windows machines to see the linux ones and each other? (Distributions)
