[Q] Rooting the Captivate Glide for an old WM6.1 newbieview story

http://forum.xda-developers.com – Hello all and been awhile since I've been active in these parts. This is probably a faux pas on several levels, but here I am. I used to be rather adept at rooting/ROMing/modding my smartphone years ago in the days when I was using HTC Windows Mobile phones, up through 6.1. (HowTos)

Command-line options working in windows, but not Linuxview story

http://stackoverflow.com – I have a .bat file on Windows/shell script on Linux that starts a large Java application from the command line. It configures the classpath, environment variables, etc. At one point, it uses RMID to configure a bunch of services which will run in their own JVMs. The problem is that it won't allow me to specify multiple JARs for the codebase property on Linux. Scroll unfocused window under mouseview story

http://askubuntu.com – In OS X, when you scroll with the mouse wheel/trackpad, the window that get’s scrolled is the one under the mouse, even if inactive, not necessarily the focused one. Something like WizMouse on Windows, it seems. How can I achieve the same in “Vanilla” Ubuntu (GNOME)? (HowTos)

Can't select supported max. resolution with HDMI Ubuntu 13.10 AMD cardview story

http://askubuntu.com – I've got an AMD graphics card (6900 series) and just installed the beta driver (after fighting with the stable one). I'm also using a screen with 2560x1440 resolution connected via HDMI which works fine on Windows (so I assume there is nothing wrong with the screen itself) but not on Ubuntu. The maximum resolution I can select is 1920x1080 which looks ugly. (HowTos)

Ubuntu Studio doesn't boot properlyview story

http://askubuntu.com – I installed Ubuntu Studio 13.10 from within a live USB stick, and I installed it alongside Windows. However, when I boot up my computer now, I only get a bare shell with the following text: GNU Grub version 2.00-19ubuntu2.1 Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported. For the first word, TAB lists possible command completions. Anywhere else TAB lists possible device or file completions. (HowTos)

Windows XP VM not using allocated memoryview story

http://serverfault.com – I have a couple of Windows XP VMs in Azure, one is Small (1 core, 1.75 GB memory) and one is Medium (2 cores, 3.5 GB memory). Both only show 512 MB of physical memory in System Properties and Task Manager, and they both run so slowly I have to believe they really are capped at 512 MB. Any guidance on how to get my VMs to use all the memory available from Azure? (HowTos)
