Compositing & Terminator & Conky & Openbox menuview story

http://crunchbanglinux.org – If I turn on xcompmgr, Terminator windows don't cast drop-shadows for some reason. So I tried cairo-compmgr and Terminator looks fine, but suddenly conky is always on top, even with own_window_hints below. So I changed conky's own_window_type to desktop, and conky looks fine but right-clicking on it now doesn't show the openbox menu. (HowTos)

how to prevent ^C echoview story

http://www.linuxquestions.org – I want to prevent "^C" from echoing when Ctrl-C is pressed. I did "stty -echoctl" which some googling results suggested. Now it echos raw Ctrl-C characters instead of the string "^C". That's not any better since it displays some funny blocked hexadecimal in the terminal window. Anyone know a better way to do this? http://www.linuxquestions.org – Hi everyone. This is an old question asked many times, which, however, is NEVER answered directly in any manual I've checked. So... I'm writing a bash install script (instead of a rpm or .deb package) that must be run by a normal user. (HowTos)
