http://ubuntuforums.org – just signed up today.... I'm using wicd to connect wireless - and using various USB adapters. The wlan-number is retained even though a particular adapter is no longer used. Example: may have a couple of USB adapters currently in use, but wlan1 and wlan2, etc. are still kept even though the adapters may have found a new home. (HowTos)

http://ubuntuforums.org – We have an HP Pavillion dv4-1548dx which is now dual boot with Win7 and Ubuntu 9.10. Wireless networking works fine when booted to Windows. When we boot ubuntu the system doesn't seem to find the wireless device. Menu>System>Network Connections has no entries in the Wireless tab. Output of lspci and lshw appear below.
