Fundamentally, which files are in control of the appearance of X?view story

http://www.linuxforums.org – I'm using Ubuntu 9.10, so in order to set the fonts and themes I use the gnome-appearance-settings dialog. Then I found this tiling window manager named xmonad. At the gdm login screen, I chose xmonad instead of gnome. What I found is that in xmonad the settings I did for the fonts and theme in gnome are not respected. As far as I know, linux settings are just files. (HowTos)

[64 bit] Copying files fast then pauses for a long periodview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – I have recently installed 64bit ubuntu on my quad core intel PC. One problem that I am having is copying files. The file transfer is VERY quck, you can see the file appear in the new nautilus window and nautilus even produces a preview image for it very fast. The problem is that when copying files there is a LONG pause/delay/halt after the file seems to have copied successfully. (Hardware)
