The USB ports recognize drives/flash memory, but I just plugged a USB mouse into the port (tried all three, actually) and the system doesn't recognize it. I get no reading from the cursor and don't know how to check if an HID is plugged into a USB port using Linux. Need a little help here. Mouse is a Dynex USB optical mouse. (Hardware)

I found that I can't adjust my brightness with the GNOME applet, it tells me "cannot get laptop brightness" and moving the slider does nothing. (Hardware)

This morning, it will turn on, go to grub, try to boot, and sit there with a blinking cursor indefinitely. I believe its trying to resume and cant, but I dont have any other option to get it to boot. The network is encrypted by WEP with a 13 character key. I don't understand why I cannot connect to it under my Linux. (Hardware)
