Cannot dual-boot Ubuntu and Windows 7view story

http://askubuntu.com – I am trying to install Ubuntu 12.04 on my grandfathers personal computer. He currently has a Toshiba Satellite with Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed on it. There is a partitioning error because of the partitions NTFS uses. The error I am experiencing is the lack of the following option: "Install Ubuntu alongside Windows 7" Tried using GParted to rearrange the partitions but that didn't work. (HowTos)

Ubuntu recognizes it (and I've already deleted some and moved to files that came with the hard drive). So I suspect everything' s fine. But I don't know if I should format it to Ext2/3/4 or Brtfs.
