http://serverfault.com – Im looking for the smallest linux dist. (x86) available that will run a very small VGA app. The app needs to run 800x600 mode. Its a bit like a kiosk mode, only there no user interaction. I'm looking at TinyCore, thats pretty tiny (8MB) but i need to pointers how to get svgalib working there (http://www.svgalib.org). I started several processes on the server itself that I would like to be able to view again via ssh. Usualy i load unetbootin to make usb bootable. since this fails here, i want to ask for for a fast linux which starts from a 32mb harddrive and than enables the usb to boot from. i already tried grub but as far as i know u have to predeclare the systems used, right?
