VGA-->HDMI Converter Box only does 4:3. I want it to do 16:10. Is it possible to force the resolution?view story

http://askubuntu.com – I purchased a Monoprice VGA-->HDMI adapter (my Thinkpad X201 laptop only has VGA out). 12.04 displays via the box, but only gives me the option of 800 x 600, or 1024 x 768. Straight VGA cable to an external monitor would give me 1920 x 1200. Is there a way for me to force the external connected HDMI (through the converter box) to display at higher resolution? (HowTos)

[ubuntu] New Laptop- could use some Tech supportview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hello- my Dell Latitude D630 recently died due to the faulty NVidia chip, so I needed to purchase a new notebook. This time, I opted for a Lenovo Thinkpad T400- not the cutting edge, but still a nice machine, and so far, it's running much cooler than the Dell ever did. In the swapover, I did something that is probably not advisable, but it worked about 95%- I just took the SSD from the De (Hardware)

[all variants] System freeze every few daysview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – I have ubuntu running on a thinkpad t400 with intel 4000hd graphics chip. It's a long story so let me start with what happened first, before while running any window/desktop every few days the dri aspect would segfault, so I would be left with windowless desktops. So I update the intel drivers to the latest ppa version. (Hardware)

Thinkpad X60s and Gnome 3/ Fedora 17view story

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – I've just resumed using Fedora after briefly trying it out last year. I have a second hand IBM Thinkpad X60s now and after the initial trauma of Yum and RPM Fusion things seem fine. Only one minor-ish issue, which is that if I scroll through Applications in the dash at a certain speed I get weird colour flashing occurring in that space. (HowTos)

[drm: __gen6_gt_force_wake_mt_get] *ERROR FORCEWAKE* ThinkPad T430view story

https://bbs.archlinux.org – On a Thinkpad T430 / Intel HD4000 graphics, using UEFI boot / GRUB2 I get [drm:__gen6_gt_force_wake_mt_get] *ERROR FORCEWAKE* right after the boot process is finished and before login: is displayed -- that's when I added grub.efi to the list of efibootmgr entries. Revived an old laptopview story

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – Yesterday, out of pure boredom, I grabbed my old ThinkPad R32 and installed Fedora 17 XFCE on it. Much to my surprise it installed without a complaint. This is a vintage machine with low specs compared to today's machines. I think I've maxed out the memory at 512M. (HowTos)
