Installing CentOS 6.3 on a non-PAE i686 computer [closed]view story

http://stackoverflow.com – I have a problem that I want to install CentOS 6.3 and my IBM Thinkpad T42's architecture is i686 without PAE support. I currently do not have another CentOS install, and my reading led me to believe I will have to recompile the kernel and set the CONFIG_X86_PAE=n in the /boot/config ... (HowTos)

No sound at all on ubuntu 12.10view story

http://askubuntu.com – Sound isn't working at all, except when I connect my headset. I think it's hardware problem? What can I do to fix it? I have a ThinkPad with HDA Intel PCH. I even tried filling a bug report, but now I think I shouldn't have as it majorly seems to be a hardware support problem. Also, a guy posted something on the bug report that I can't make sense of (Feeling so ~n00b right now [._.] ). (HowTos)

High power consumption on kernel 3.6.9-ARCHview story

https://bbs.archlinux.org – I upgraded my T420 thinkpad to kernel 3.6.9-1-ARCH and today realized that the battery life is only around 2 hours (usually I get 6 with a 6-cell battery).  Is anyone else having problems with unusually high power consumption on this kernel? My temporary solution was to downgraded the kernel to 3.6.8-1-ARCH.  I'll keep "IgnorePkg = linux linux-headers" until the next kernel (HowTos)
