Wireless connection time on 11.3 much worse than 11.2view story

http://forums.opensuse.org – It is taking up to 3 minutes after the desktop has come up (T42 thinkpad with opensuse 11.3 + kde 4.4.4 rel 2) before wifi connection is completed. This is much much slower than 11.2 and kde 3.? or even M$ XP. The fix suggested in this forum makes no discernible improvement. Does anybody know why this change has been made and when it will be sorted out. Budgie2 (Distributions)

http://www.linuxquestions.org – Published at LXer: Since Peppermint Ice targets netbooks and older, resource-constrained laptops and PCs, I dusted off a well-worn ThinkPad 2662-35U, loaded it up with the Peppermint Ice inaugural release, and took the setup for a spin. Read More... (HowTos)

Recommended netbookview story

http://crunchbanglinux.org – Having fried the USB sockets on my Thinkpad recently I am faced with two choices:1. Either get the Thinkpad fixed - a procedure of uncertain cost and success (I tried using a PCMCIA USB card but that also fried the moment I put an mp3 player in to charge)2. (HowTos)

openSuSE 11.3 wireless problemsview story

http://forums.opensuse.org – Hi, I have openSuSE 11.3 + KDE 4.4 running on a Thinkpad t400. Knetwork manager recognizes my wireless networks and the icon shows that my computer is connected. However, I am not able to connect to the web - browser, chat, twitter app - nothing works. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? Thanks (Distributions)

Screen resolution must be selected at every rebootview story

http://forums.opensuse.org – I am using a Lenovo T500 Thinkpad with 1680x1050 display. Most of the time I do not use the built-in Lenovo display, I use an external 1920x1200 display instead. Every time I reboot, I have to use Configure Desktop > Display to change the resolution from pre-selected 1680x1050 to 1920x1200 (Auto). See image below. What can I do to avoid having to do this at every restart? (Distributions)

how to back up windows XPview story

http://www.linuxquestions.org – Hey I bought a lenovo t60 thinkpad and it came with windows XP. I'm going to wipe the hard drive and put Slackware on it. Is there any way to back up the copy of XP onto CD's before I wipe it? Maybe I could put XP back onto the laptop someday if I decide to sell it. (HowTos)

Statler XFCE shortcut keys on Thinkpad with no ''super key''view story

http://crunchbanglinux.org – I've been using 9.04 OB for several months now, and had made a xmodmap file to remap the super key from the non-existent ''windows'' key on my Thinkpads, to use either the Caps Lock or the right Alt key.  This works great on my old install, but now that I've installed Statler XFCE, I can't get the shortcut keys to work at all on my Thinkpad.  Need a lit (HowTos)

thinkpad t400 opensuse 11.3 + KDE 4.5 = freezeview story

http://forums.opensuse.org – Hi, I am running openSuSE 11.3 on a Thinkpad T400 laptop (with Intel+ATI switchable graphics). I made a clean install of openSuSE 11.3 (earlier running 11.2), and updated to KDE 4.5. Now my screen freezes frequently. I can move the mouse cursor all over the screen, but cannot start any application; the keyboard doesn't work too. (Distributions)
