Cannot boot into Win 7 Grub legacy "Error 13"view story

http://ubuntuforums.org – Fred, I installed grub2 by using Synaptic and I can see a new menu.lst and it picked all the kernels installed on my Ubuntu 12.10 m/c. Great! It however did not have an entry for Windows 7 which is on (hd0,0). So, I manually added the Win 7 entry into the menu.lst as shown below. (Hardware)

[lubuntu] update-apt-xapiview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – freezing: this keeps happening to me & I told the software centre etc not to even check for updates, I do it manually on synaptic, but it keeps popping up and freezing my comp. Any way to rip this thing out without breaking anything? Even top stops responding so it takes me like a minute to kill it...It's annoying when you're in the middle of something. (Hardware)

[ubuntu] Lost network devices after 12.10 upgrade on Alienware m11xview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – I have had 12.10 installed on my Alienware m11x r3 laptop for a while. Works great, after I installed BumbleBee, until today when I did an upgrade. I was connected on a wireless network. It was several months since I used Ubuntu on the laptop (I've been absent for a while) so I had a lot of updates to apply. (Hardware)

How to setup Canon InkJet Pixma IP 1300?view story

http://askubuntu.com – I am unable to setup Canon InkJet Pixma IP 1300 on Quantal AMD64. The things I have tried: Shut down and disconnect the printer before installing packages. Added the ppa:michael-gruz/canon repository to synaptic and installed the cnijfilter-pixmaip1000series package (there is no package for 1300 so I installed the nearest one). (HowTos)

How to install Activity Log Manager in Lubuntu 12.10?view story

http://askubuntu.com – I want to solve this problem and thought about trying activity-log-manager to edit Zeitgeist log (or something like that, if I use the right terms). I have Zeitgeist 0.9.5 installed and Synaptic allows installing activity-log-manager v. 0.9.4. I have installed it. It is visible in main menu, in usr/bin/ as well as in /usr/share/applications/, also the Launcher Synapse sees it. (HowTos)

http://crunchbang.org – tux_drummer wrote:That's so bad.. I want to manage all packages through apt.Well, synaptic will show you the locally added packages via dpkg and not apt, so it's not going to get totally out of control. You can still manage those packages later via synaptic. (HowTos)
