bash history buffer cacheview story

http://www.unix.com – Moderators, Please excuse if I am in the wrong section. I have a question that someone may know the answer to. We know that a current bash shell keeps a record of all commands in a buffer. When the shell is terminated this buffer is written out to ~/.bash_history for the user. I know that in the current shell, you can access this buffer by using ctrl r for reverse history. (HowTos)

How can I find out which version of shell (bash and/or ksh) start to support ==view story

http://serverfault.com – both [[ string1 == string2 ]] and [[ string1 = string2 ]] means equal. But some other guy told me their machine don't support ==. The error message is: syntax error: `==' unexpected. Seems they use pretty old UNIX with korn shell and I'm using REHL5.2. Since I cannot access their machines, how do I find out which version start to support "=="? Thanks (HowTos)
