Although I get much higher transfer rates with NFS, and also listing the content of a folder with ls in the terminal is fast, it takes ages to get Nautilus to display the content (1000s of files). However, Windows' Explorer (accessing the same folder via SMB) displays the content at least 10x faster. A problem of Nautilus? (HowTos)
