File System Tweaksview story

http://crunchbanglinux.org – First off at the very, very minimum one needs to slice up their drives with -/boot//var/log/homeAlso I would recommend an additional slice for /tmp also, but that depends on how much drive space you have, 2-4 Gig is usually fineReason for the extra slices is boot really does need to be secure and root needs to be isolated from home and log.   For those who just put everything on one slic (HowTos)

How to gracefully restore NFS drives and applications after network going down?view story

http://forums.opensuse.org – I'm having a bit of a problem with drives connected by NFS and KDE4.4.4. The setup is that a server running oS11.2 and KDE4.4.4 gives access to it's shared drives via NFS to two laptops (one with 11.2 the other with 11.3, both running kde4.4.4) and a desktop PC (running oS11.3 KDE4.4.4). The clients have no problems accessing the shared drive on the server via NFS. (Distributions)

Monitor "out of scan range" when hibernatingview story

http://www.linuxquestions.org – My system was working fine. Then, I upgraded from Fedora 9 to 13. Now the system sets a scan range outside of what the monitor can handle when it hibernates. I copied /etc/X11/xorg.conf from the Fedora 9 installation. I added a monitor section with horizontal and vertical frequency ranges. Xorg restarts faster, but the problem is unchanged. CTRL-ALT-BS doesn't recover the system. (HowTos)

Just installed 11.3 on a netbookview story

http://forums.opensuse.org – Hi everyone, Here's my experience with installing openSUSE 11.3 on a netbook. Normally I attach an external CD/DVD-drive to my netbook and boot from an openSUSE installation disk. But this time I didn't want to burn an CD and setup all those wires. So I decided to try installing openSUSE from an USB-stick. (Distributions)
