[ubuntu] Browsers+Pidgin not working (but Tor-browser+xchat are)view story

http://ubuntuforums.org – So it's not a new install, and I haven't made any major changes recently...but this afternoon my firefox and pidgin failed to connect. (Pidgin returns "no address associated with hostname"). I tried elinks (another browser) and it also failed to connect...so it's not a firefox issue or anything...but then when I tried my Tor-Browser-Bundle, *IT* worked. (Which is how I'm posting here). [ubuntu] Checkgmail and pidgin tray icons invisible in Unityview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hey I have been fighting with checkgmail and pidgin, because after a while their tray icons disappear in unity. Also the black message boxes don't show up with pidgin (e.g. when someone writes a message to me), when the task tray icons are not visible. Weirdly enough, when I switch between workspaces, the icons are visible during the switching. (Hardware)

Installing Extensions in gnome-shellview story

https://bbs.archlinux.org – Okay so they have moved gnome-shell-extensions-common out of the repos so the only extensions available there is the user theme. I have updated the system and as the two files were in conflict, so had to remove the extensions-common package. Now the normal way of installing an extension will be heading to their site and turning the extension on from there. (HowTos)
