Dry run php script from shellview story

http://www.unix.com – Is it possible to dry run a php script without actually executing it? Say I need to test the output of a php file to see if it matches a pattern. I need to run this on all php files on the server. But I fear if there are php files that make modifications, sends out mail etc, that should not happen. In short only static php files should be executed. (HowTos)

Software or Hardware RAID for LVMview story

https://bbs.archlinux.org – Well, I've been looking into setting up a RAID for my home server.  I've been trying to decide between a software raid or buying a relatively cheap SATA controller and using it for a hardware RAID.  I'm trying to figure out the pros and cons of buying a cheap hardware card for use rather than simply using a software solution. Are there any negatives to using LVM with either (HowTos)

How can I find out why my EC2 instance was down for a whileview story

http://serverfault.com – I have an instance running at Amazon EC2. I just checked the monitoring, and I saw that the server was down for a while. TO be more precise, there is completely no line between 15:16:00 and 15:46:00 in the monitoring graphs of the EC2 console. I also have confirmation from Uptimerobot that my servers where down. Apparently my server was down for exactly 30 minutes. (HowTos)
