[Q] Rooting the Captivate Glide for an old WM6.1 newbieview story

http://forum.xda-developers.com – Hello all and been awhile since I've been active in these parts. This is probably a faux pas on several levels, but here I am. I used to be rather adept at rooting/ROMing/modding my smartphone years ago in the days when I was using HTC Windows Mobile phones, up through 6.1. (HowTos)

No visible performance increase with Radeon 5450 and OSource driversview story

http://askubuntu.com – I have been running my machine without GPU for a while with decent results (no lag for a decent internet use, videos read smoothly and 2D gaming is OK). But I decided to see what I could get with an actual GPU, and acquired a cheap Radeon 5450 low profile card from a local store, just to try it out. (HowTos)

why does blktrace only write blocks of 8?view story

http://unix.stackexchange.com – I want to understand the I/O pattern a database is writing to disk to decide how many disks to use for best performance. To analyse the I/O pattern I want to use blktrace and I have to grok it first. This is what I try here. I have a USB stick that I attach to my computer and it becomes /dev/sdd. (HowTos)

Is there anything better than NFS for sharing directories between linux guests on VMWare?view story

http://serverfault.com – We have an application that on physical machines distributes work to slaves via a NFS mounted directory shared on the master. This configuration is easy to replicate on VMWare. And seems to give adequate performance. However, I was wondering if there is a better way of sharing the directory between linux guests running under VMWare? I gather shared folders on VMWare use hgfs. (HowTos)
