Update live USB distro?view story

http://askubuntu.com – I have Lubuntu 14.04 (and Ubuntu 14.04) on a pair of USB disks created by writing the img files to USB using dd on Mac OS X. Unfortunately these systems both have some known bugs (that have since been corrected) and lack certain important drivers for my system (which I have located online). How can I make the USB disks writable and how do I update the distribution upon them as one may do for a l (HowTos)

Linux software raid assembled "itself" with failed drive. Why?view story

http://unix.stackexchange.com – I have two raid1 arrays: md3 (sda3 + sdb3) and md5 (sda5 + sdb5). I deliberately failed the sdb disks because I wanted to change the partition table: # mdadm /dev/md3 --fail /dev/sdb3 # mdadm /dev/md5 --fail /dev/sdb5 Some time later I checked /proc/mdstat and it says Personalities : [raid1] md5 : active raid1 sdb5[1] 104792064 blocks super 1.2 [2/1] [_U] md3 : active raid1 sda3[0] (HowTos)

Trying to add Windows 7 to grub2view story

http://askubuntu.com – So I just got a SSD that I installed Ubuntu 14.04 on. I did this by using a disk. For some reason it would not allow me to install it from windows 7. So right now I have to go into my BIOS to switch between the two OS. I would like to add windows 7 to GRUB instead of messing with my windows boot loader. (HowTos)

Booting Ubuntu from an external hdd on a MacBook Proview story

http://askubuntu.com – I'm dual-booting a late-2013 Macbook Pro with Ubuntu 14.04 x64 (vmlinuz-3.13.0-24-generic) and OSX 10.9.2 with Refind. This worked well after I installed Refind's ext4 driver. I also have the hard-drive from my previous laptop on a USB external drive with copies of Windows and Ubuntu on separate partitions which I'd like to boot on the Mac. (HowTos)

[ubuntu] Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Install not seeing Windows 7 Partitionsview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – During install after hitting: "Something Else" and trying to create Linux partitions none are found, only 2T of free space. I have a good working install of Windows 7 with two primary partitions and one 100gig unallocated which I shrunk using "diskmgmt.msc" for the Ubuntu installation. So basically I'm looking at nothing but free space and no Windows 7 installation. (Hardware)
