[other_os] installing pacman on Ubuntuview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hi, this is a bit wacky. on Chakra Linux , I manage to get dpkg running on it and even install a .deb file on chakra. Is there a way to say install pacman, or yum on Ubuntu? when I am saying this, I don't refer to a .deb converter, like alien. I would like to get the package installer runnning on Ubuntu. thanks in advance (Hardware)

Unable to install trinity 3.5.12 (kdemod3-kdelibs dependency heimdal)view story

However, this will skip ALL dependency checks, so make sure heimdal is the only one you're missing. (HowTos)

looking for something that allows selective updatingview story

https://bbs.archlinux.org – You want to save time and bandwidth but on a system that uses shared libraries, most packages are ridiculously small. I would take the inverse approach (selectively NOT updating). That is, make a list of big packages that you'd rather not update too often like linux, firefox, libreoffice, texlive, whatever and put those in IgnorePkg in "/etc/pacman.conf". (HowTos)

problem after updating. Inusertemp failedview story

http://chakra-project.org – Can you login at all, even terminal?  If not, please use a live-ISO, and check space left on your HDD.  How much did you allocate for the Chakra install?  Did you try rebooting, instead of re-login?  How long ago did you do your last update?  Maybe needed to see the /var/log/pacman.log to see what was updated when this started.
