http://ubuntuforums.org – I've had a similar porblem with 10.04 which i could solve by using newer ALSA (an upgrade to 10.10 made it almost perfect). the sound never worked in HD mode but since i use analog stereo anyway that was ifne enough. when 12.04 came out i tested live everyhting worked so a fresh install was made. sound worked very well except when computer went to hibernation. so i turned of hibernaiton.
