[ubuntu] Ubuntu 9.10 Freezing (unresponsive keys, laggy or unresponsive mouse)view story

http://ubuntuforums.org – Im extremely uber nub when it comes to Ubuntu (first distro) and I'm having troubles with it freezing on me. I think it might be a hardware issue maybe something with overheating. It seems that it takes longer to freeze if I haven't used my laptop in a while as opposed to trying to reboot after a freeze, where it almost freezes instantly again. Any help would be great. [all variants] HP Compaq 4310s?view story

http://ubuntuforums.org – I would like to buy a very compact laptop computer (max. 14" screen, but not a netbook) that can also function (with external monitor, keyboard, mouse) as a worthy desktop computer replacement. However, it should also be reasonably affordable so I'm willing to compromise on graphics performance (not a gamer) and, perhaps, battery life. (Hardware)

http://ubuntuforums.org – In Windows on the laptop, I am accustomed to assigning the left mouse button to the 'back' command (used mainly in the browser and explorer) while maintaining the tap-to-select on the trackpad itself. [all variants] Synaptics Touchpad gestures onlyview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – I want to use my Thinkpad T40's touchpad for gestures only, not for mouse movement. Is there any way to accomplish that? Even with disabled Touchpad, synclient shows touchpad strokes, so it should be possible to intercept these strokes and use them for gestures. I have tried easystroke before, but it didn't seem to work with my touchpad at all, not even with an enabled one. (Hardware)
