[ubuntu] Help recovering from failed Ubuntu 14.10 installview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – This morning I attempted to upgrade from Ubuntu 14.04 to 14.10. The upgrade process proceeded as normal, until about 50% through package installation. Various packages began failing to install. Eventually, enough failed that it looked like the system was attempting to revert to some known-good state. (Hardware)

Lost all access to C drive & need to recover dataview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – FML I'm running 14.04 on a AMD Quad Core with 4Gb RAM. My system has been getting progressively flaky for a while, with odd little issues that were more annoying than anything else. Yesterday an update for Time-zones failed to install, which seemed a bit strange. I then tried to start Google Chrome browser, but it wouldn't load. (Hardware)

Permissions for /system/etcview story

http://android.stackexchange.com – I was trying to enable writing titanium backups to the SDCard by editing the file: /system/etc/permissions/platform.xml However I was not paying attention and now everytime I boot up I get spammed with error messages "Unfortunatley, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped". All apps also produce a force close saying about the same thing. Continuously. (HowTos)

Mounting drives, changing labels, knowing what's in /devview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – I've been messing about with this today / yesterday and I've gradually got more confused the more I've done. I'm a beginner - so one thing tends to lead to another. And I'm not sure whether some of the information that I've been reading is out of date or not. (Hardware)

[ubuntu] Attaching to Windows Serverview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hello Everyone, When I use the GUI (Nautilus) to attach to a remote Windows/SMB server does the server get mounted somewhere on the filesystem? For example, if I connect to a server from a Mac it will automatically mount it to /Volumes - which is really convenient if you are using command line apps or apps that don't necessarily support the desktop environment correctly. Thanks, --Dave (Hardware)
