How can I restore a microsoft sql server database backup to postgres?view story

http://serverfault.com – I need to take a Microsoft SQL Server database backup (dump) file and import/restore into a PostgreSQL database. Does anybody have some sort of transform script (maybe a perl/sed/awk script) that could be run on the MSSQL Server backup file, so that it could be restored to the PostgreSQL database? Let's assume the tables have already been created in postgres, but they are all empty. (HowTos)

The Microsoft Surface Pro Proves That The PC Is Backview story

http://techcrunch.com – I come bearing glad tidings. After decades of OEM malaise, a constant parroting of the speeds and feeds mantra, and an aesthetic that was formulated in the back room of a dingy Staples office supply store, the PC is really back. In short, the Surface Pro is so good that it could drive Windows 8 adoption with enough force to make people reconsider Microsoft’s odd new OS. (IT news)

[ubuntu] Problems with dual-booting setupview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – I got a new Asus K55A laptop in November(?) with 7 on it. Normally, I just would nuke it and load Ubuntu, but I need to use some Microsoft software for school and Wine has a tendency to be, well, "whiney". So Windows got to stay. I've tried to load Ubuntu back a couple times, through both Wubi and a live cd. (Hardware)
