http://askubuntu.com – My laptop is the Acer Timeline Ultra M5-481TG. It has an Nvidia Geforce GT 640M LE gpu. I am running Ubuntu Studio 12.10. I have tried to install this driver many ways because Nouveau eats my battery and I believe is somewhat out of date. I have even tried using sudo stop lightdm in another console. (HowTos)
http://ubuntuforums.org – Will the Ubuntu Desktop work for my laptop or is there another version for laptops? My HD died in my laptop, so I'm getting a new one in Tuesday and want to put Ubuntu on it. Already have it on my desktop, going on 3+ years and love it. Thanks and sorry if it's a stupid question... I used to use ProPresenter on a Macbook, but am trying to use an open source software that will run on multiple OSes. I thought LibreOffice would be a good fit. #1 I'm having a hard time with the Display settings. (Hardware)
http://ubuntuforums.org – I have an old laptop that I wish to make into a dedicated Atari ST emulation machine. I have an emulator lined up, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to get the machine to boot directly into it. I don't want a window manager at all, the emulator runs without one. The emulator that I want to use is Hatari, which works with SDL. Ideally, I would like the machine to boot directly into (Hardware)
http://www.talkandroid.com – Just yesterday we covered a bit of speculation over whether or not Google would release touchscreen laptops this year. Apparently, Google took the hint and released a fairly powerful laptop dubbed the Chromebook Pixel in the Play Store. It’s a little different from the usual suspects in the Play Store, primarily because of the whopping $1299 price tag. (IT news)
http://www.thevarguy.com – Linux fans in Europe have reason to celebrate this week with Dell’s announcement that its “Sputnik” XPS 13 laptop powered by Ubuntu, which the company released in the United States in December 2012, is now available on the other side of the ocean as well. As a bonus, Dell has added some hardware upgrades to the laptop for all markets. (IT news)
http://crunchbang.org – This is not a discussion on piracy. I want to rip the dvd's to my hdd so that I can store them on a media server. In the past I've always used OGMRip to decrypt and convert movies to mpeg. I've done this a zillion times without problem. Now OGMRip gets stuck at a certain point and doesn't progress. I then tried Handbrake but it wouldn't even load any of the disks. (HowTos)
