[gnome] How do I get my 2 computers to see each other?view story

http://ubuntuforums.org – I have a wired desktop running 9.10 and a wireless laptop running Ultimate Edition 2.6 (aka Ubuntu 10.04). They both connect to a Netgear router. I took down the firewalls on both computers and the router. I also configured remote desktop to accept connections on both puters, but when I go to network all I see is Windows Network. Click on that and I get "unable to mount". (HowTos)

[ubuntu] Need Help Connecting to Wirelessview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – So I just installed Ubuntu 10.04 on my laptop alongside Windows 7. When I try to connect to a wireless network (my own), it doesn't connect. It just keeps trying to connect, and every 1-2 minutes it gives me a message asking me for the authentication. I'm 100% sure the WEP key is correct though. (HowTos)

Maximized window gets under the panel in my external monitorview story

http://forums.opensuse.org – Hi, I'm using openSUSE 11.3. I have a external monitor, and my setup is that when it is connected the panel is expended on the left. (Extended desktop) When I maximize any window in my external monitor, the window gets under the panel, instead of getting maximized properly. Is this a bug? (Distributions)

kpanel 3 gone missingview story

http://forums.opensuse.org – I've just upgraded a client's laptop from 10.0 to 11.3, and I've stubbed my toe on just the latest in a long line of "Release Configuration Managers hate customers" issues in my SuSE experience of late. While 11.3 includes all the kdebase3 RPMs except -session, I've installed that as well, and I *still* don't seem to have kpanel. (Distributions)

[all variants] better ideas for stateless IPv6 DNS on LAN?view story

http://ubuntuforums.org – In the IPv4 world, a DHCP server gives addresses to clients, and then records their hostname/IP locally. This hostname/IP can then be passed on to the authoritative DNS server for a domain, so those hostnames can be addressed directly. (On a LAN, this is often all handed by dnsmasq. dnsmasq usually doesn't face the whole world, but it can.) (HowTos)

[ubuntu] iPhone Tethering with Handy Light?view story

http://ubuntuforums.org – I recently downloaded the iPhone app "Handy Light" which contains an Easter Egg allowing you to tether a laptop to the phone to use the 3G as a wireless network. The only instructions I can find are for Windows or Mac. Anybody know how to do this with Ubuntu? I have an iPhone 3G running OS4, in case that matters. Thanks. (HowTos)
