[ubuntu] trying to set up print server using Ubuntu Server 10.10view story

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hi all, I am trying to set up a print and file server for my home network using Ubuntu Server. The file server part of the task seems to working well. I can see the shared directories from my Macbook and my wife's Windows Laptop. I am stuck on the printer setup, though. I have an HP Photosmart printer connected to the Ubuntu Server machine via USB cable. (HowTos)

New to the Forums, but not to CrunchBangview story

http://crunchbanglinux.org – Howdy All,I've been using CrunchBang for about a year now.  Initially I used CrunchBang to get a bit more life out of an old Pentium II laptop I was using for Xastir APRS (Automatic Position Reporting System) in my Ham Radio shack.  It works so well I've been setting it up to run as a virtual machine on my MacBook Pro and it will become the primary OS on a machine presently run (HowTos)

Are there other options to boot from on a live CD?view story

http://crunchbanglinux.org – Hello,I'm having trouble booting a live cd from on an HP dm4t laptop.  It is a fairly new machine.  I suspect that it probably has something to do with the ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5470 graphics, but I'm too much of a noob to really know what to do. :(I have tried both the default and the failsafe options and wound up with a black screen. another cheap laptop -current testbed recommendationview story

http://www.linuxquestions.org – have got -current now running flawlessly on a Dell C840 laptop. This older machine has a 2ghz processor. The screen gives a 1600x1220 patch of real estate to work with. I replaced the bcm4318 wireless card with an INtel2200b/g as the Broadcom was failing i.e., overheating and causing the machine to lock up. (HowTos)

Best Laptop to Install Linuxview story

http://www.linuxquestions.org – I have looked over previous posts, but was unable to see any threads discussing this particular topic specifically. I am trying to find the best laptop to install RedHat Linux on. I am probably going to install RHEL Server 6.0, since the new RHCSA exam is based on RHEL 6.0, I have access to various older distros. Persistent snapshotview story

http://www.linuxquestions.org – I started to use Debian Live about three months ago. I can't get snapshot to work correctly. Each time the system boots or shutdown, the system over-writes the persistent file. I'm currently have to use the live-snapshot command to make a snapshot. Make a copy of the file for a backup. Then I have to boot my system and make a copy of the backup and rename the file the correctly. (HowTos)
