Muon menu bar missingview story

http://www.kubuntuforums.net – There is a bug report filed on this as of 2013-07-05. I've seen it before, but have no recall of any fix for it. The problem exists on my netbook but not on my desktop. I tried a complete reinstall after a purge, and the problem was in no way resolved. Any ideas or knowledge as to possible resolutions? (HowTos)

[Settings] Is there a simple way to change my user name?view story

http://www.kubuntuforums.net – I am the only user of my Kubuntu 13.04, so have admin access. Is there a GUI-based way to change my user name? Or a simple CL command? I've had a look at the User Management Application in System Settings, but there's no obvious step, and I'm loath to start meddling in the unknown. Done too much damage that way, in the past.... Cheers (HowTos)

Delighted to find Artha [it's like WordWebview story

http://www.kubuntuforums.net – WordWeb is one of my favorite free Windows apps. You can pull it up with Ctrl+Alt+W and type in a word for a definition and synonyms. In other words, it's a quick and handy dictionary and thesaurus. Artha was listed in the Muon Software Center as a thesaurus, but it's really a dictionary and thesaurus like WordWeb. It even is pulled up with the same hot key, Ctrl+Alt+W, as WordWeb. (HowTos)

Synchronizing system time, Kubuntu/Windows dual bootview story

http://www.kubuntuforums.net – I'd love to be able to get rid of my Windows installation altogether, but for now, due to the needs of my business, I have to keep an up-to-date Windows installation on my primary office PC. (HowTos)

VirtualBox -- Mac OS X instead of Windows?view story

http://www.kubuntuforums.net – I'll soon be installing VirtualBox. The main reason I still use Windows is because of a few applications that are not available for Linux which don't run well under WINE. One is Final Draft, a word processor specifially designed for writing screenplays and stage plays. The Linux offerings for script writing programs just didn't cut it. (HowTos)

[SOLVED] After waking up the NetworkManager says the network is unmanaged!view story

http://www.kubuntuforums.net – A family relative has a ThinkPad on which I installed Kubuntu 9.04 after it went gold, three years ago. While they frequently visit us about every three months (she and my wife go shopping and he and I go to the shooting range and terrorize some targets) in all those three years she never once mentioned any problems with her Kubuntu installation. why did they pig up both memory slots?view story

http://www.kubuntuforums.net – My laptop has 4 GB of memory. I'm planning on installing VirtualBox soon, so I want to bump it up to 8. So I opened up the back panel for the first time to discover each slot occupied by a 2 GB memory card. ARG! I was hoping for a single 4 to be in there so I would only need to buy another 4. Instead I'm going to have to buy two 4s. I'm going to do it anyway though. (HowTos)

[Utilities] Forecastfox Weather 2.2.2 for Firefox works, handyview story

http://www.kubuntuforums.net – I usually keep the browser pretty plain vanilla because I figure the more dinguses there are they might slow things down. But, gotta say....Forecastfox Weather 2.2.2 looks good, works, is discreet (lower border of FF but can be changed) customizeable, has popup map, etc. Yes the browser has to be going to show it but...browser is going most of the time anyway!
