I want to get on the fedora chat in IRC and would like not to stick my ip address out there for all to see. I got back a warning saying: You are running ZNC as root! Don't do that! There are not many valid [ ** ] reasons for this and it can, in theory, cause great damage! I then exited root. (HowTos)

I haven't noticed any delays when browsing the internet on Fedora, but right now I am trying to download the IRC client communication via the command su -c 'yum install konversation' and I am downloading at less than 2 killobytes per second.
