w3wp.exe hogs memoryview story

http://serverfault.com – On a Small Business Server 2011 installation a whole number of w3wp.exe processes appear to be using a disproportional lot of memory. The SBS out-of-the-box installations comes with a total of 7 sites and 20 ASP.NET application pools (Sharepoint, Exchange, WSUS and SBS-specific stuff like Remote Web Workplace). (HowTos)

Is there a way to generate appcmd invocations from IIS Server Manager?view story

http://serverfault.com – I find the appcmd CLI inscrutable, and so will often do more esoteric operations once locally in the server-manager, then look at the various changes to the config files that happen so I can perform them by hand or script. I could swear I've seen a screenshot of someone generating the appcmd invocations based on an already-created-and-configured site from IIS Server Manager. Is that possible (an (HowTos)

ASP.Net Restart IISview story

http://serverfault.com – Long story short -- we have 2 webservers (IIS 6) that run a 3rd party asp.net application. Randomly (so far) they just...stop working. I have an outside check that will tell me when it stops working within a minute or so. Right now I have to get onto the machines through RDP and issue an iisreset. (HowTos)

Why has my IIS changed and my sites stopped working on my local machine?view story

http://serverfault.com – I've bought a new computer to my home and used the HomeGroup to connect to my older machine and Share some folders between the computers. That's all the changes I've made. Now on my old computer the site I have doesn't allow contents to be listed - insufficient priviligies. And the application pool identity is LocalService. By the way the website is in one of the shared folders. (HowTos)
