With XP I could close the lid of my latop to put the machine into "suspend/hynernate" and lift the lid to take it out of that state. I can't do the same when using Ubuntu. The machine shuts down or shows an error. Any advice? (Hardware)

Email this pagehttp://ubuntuforums.org – Ok, here is an unusual problem. I have a Dell vostro 1510 with an nVidia 8400M graphics card. The GPU fried on it and I had it sent into dell. They probably replaced the motherboard and flashed the BIOS with an updated version that corrects the GPU error. (Hardware)

I'm sure it has something to do with the unique device name, but what happened to /media/disk and /media/disk-1? Automount was so friendly before, and now this. I'm mounting an external USB hard drive, plus an internal partition. Same problem, both devices. (Hardware)

Full install freezes right after log on and live install freezes right after start up. Ideas? Fail safe mode? Video drive issues? I'm a bit of a newbie here so hand holding might be necessary.
