[ubuntu] I want to upgrade my hardware of my old computer.view story

http://ubuntuforums.org – My computer is old, it had Windows XP when we first got it. I installed Ubuntu after it was slow, I liked it. But no desktop effects(which I really wanted) due to my SiS Card. I want to get a new video and graphics card(I think they are the same but I'm not sure) And maybe something else that would make my computer be like better. I would like get a list of hardware that I should upgrade. Thanks! (Hardware)

[ubuntu] Cannot suspend or hibernate Asus N61J Laptopview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – Recently got a new laptop for work, an Asus N61J, and I installed Ubuntu 9.10 on it. For whatever reason, the laptop will not suspend. I have no idea why, as it looks like it is going to, but ultimately dumps me back at the Unlock screen, as though I had just locked the computer, rather than suspending it. (Hardware)

[kubuntu] No sound after switching to SLiM (instead of KDM)view story

http://ubuntuforums.org – Greetings! I've installed Karmic 64bit on my desktop. Previously I used ubuntus from version 5.04. Everything was OK. But if I switch to SLiM instead of default KDM login manager, I have no sound. Maybe KDM runs some scripts/daemons on start that SLiM doesn't? Maybe you know what daemons should I run? If I switch back to KDM everything works properly.' (Hardware)

[ubuntu] Downloading fax using tkusrview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – Yes, I know tkusr is no longer supported and neither are any of the similar applications All I want to know is wtf is going on with the fax below? Tkusr sends AT+MTP=4 to the USRobotics message modem and that apparently downloads the stored fax. The result is a supposedly .g3 file which is invalid so I can't upload it, but have converted it to a pdf. (Hardware)
