Prompt for username and password before starting on Fedora 17view story

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – I just did a fresh network install of F17 onto an eeePC netbook 1000HE. Grub2 is dual booting it with Windows XP. When the netbook boots to Grub2, I select Fedora (or Windows) and I'm prompted for a username and a password. The only credentials that allow me to proceed are the root creds for the Fedora installation. I have 2 other F17 installations that do not behave this way. (HowTos)

Grub2 superuser behaviour has changedview story

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – I have a problem with grub2 in F17, version is 2.0-0.37. In grub2.1.99-13, you could define a superuser, and this allowed you to boot a grub entry without a password. But it required a password if you tried to edit any of the grub entries. (HowTos)

Issues with GRUB2 as a bootloader using GPTview story

https://bbs.archlinux.org – According to this section of the GRUB2 wiki-article, it seems I don't need the 2 MiB partition in the beginning when using UEFI + BIOS. However I've tried this and didn't really change anything, same error message ("BootDevice not found").This partition is also not required if the system is UEFI based, as no embedding of bootsectors takes place in that case. (HowTos)

/sbin/init does not existview story

https://bbs.archlinux.org – It sounds like your initrd might be broken. Try chroot'ing from your live CD or bootable media and run:mkinitcpio -p linuxThen back out of the chroot and reboot the system. It wouldn't hurt to take a look at your boot loader configuration, too. Are you using grub-legacy, grub2, or syslinux? (HowTos)

New installation media ; operating system not found.view story

https://bbs.archlinux.org – Did you perhaps run into the problem described on this page?https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pa … ning_toolsIt says:Note: The first partition created by cfdisk starts at sector 63, instead of the usual 2048. This will cause problems with grub2. grub-legacy and syslinux should work fine. cmlr https://bbs.archlinux.org/profile.php?id=10565 2012-07-28T00:54:39Z (HowTos)
