[kubuntu] I get black screen when trying to boot into KDEview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – I had a GeForce 7200 PCIe car using the nouveau drivers without issue. The card all of a sudden started making a bad noise from the fan. I had a GeForce FX 5200 PCI laying around so I swapped the cards out. I can boot into Gnome no effect but when I try KDE I get a black screen. Through grub2 I can boot into recovery mode and the failsafe mode to get back to kde. (Hardware)

Chainload boot of Ubuntu installed on 32GB SD card from legacy Grub boot on USBview story

http://askubuntu.com – I have Ubuntu installed on a 32 GB SD card (in the Storage Expansion slot on an Acer Aspire One) with Grub2 installed in the same partition. I boot into legacy Grub on a USB drive and would like to boot by chainloading Grub2 from Grub (kernel/initrd or symlink booting would also be fine), but I haven't figured out how to do this from legacy Grub CLI. http://forums.fedoraforum.org – Hi everyone. I have an 80 MB /boot partition, which is obviously a problem. I'd like to move the contents of that partition into the /boot directory on my root partition, and change my boot process to no longer mount the /boot partition and instead boot from my root partition. [ubuntu] Securing Grub from Quantalview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – The goal that is to be achieved is the securing of Grub, that is, preventing standard users to fiddle with its terminal, edit its command lines, or enter the much-powerful recovery mode. A fresh Quantal install was performed, which is the only operating system to be installed, and BIOS and the boot order and been taken care of, in addition to limiting users to "standard" accounts. HOWTO - Optimize #! statler for use with a solid state driveview story

http://crunchbanglinux.org – This is a guide I compiled from several other people's guides I found around the internet. Several suggestions other people made have been omitted, such as disabling file journaling, which I think is a ridiculous thing to do that can result in serious data loss. (HowTos)
