xfce4 desktop menu gone from panel - Gentooview story

http://www.linuxquestions.org – Hello, I have this ridiculous issue where my desktop menu has mysteriously disappeared from my panel. Regardless of my searching around, I seem not to be able to add the desktop menu which includes shortcuts to most installed programs to the panel. However, I can still start it by right-clicking the desktop. Now, how can I get the menu back in the panel, I tried with add new items but it just (HowTos)

can not change fluxbox fontview story

http://www.linuxquestions.org – This is my first time using fluxbox. I installed fluxbox on Gentoo Linux. I have read fluxbox wiki about font and done instruction in it, but nothing happened. I'm still unable to change fluxbox font. I also checked whether my desired font is detected by X with xfontsel. Maybe I miss some package. Any help? (HowTos)

Hacking is easy...view story

http://blog.flameeyes.eu – Now, Gentoo has currently a number of hacks over Rubygems (the library, and the package manager) for two main reason: supporting the Portage-based install of gems in the old manner (as in calling gem from within the eclass), and supporting multiple Ruby implementations to be installed at the same time. Sabayon 5.3 reviewview story

http://linuxbsdos.com – Sabayon is a multi-purpose, Gentoo-based Linux distribution. It is part-source, part-binary distribution. I just call it a hybrid distribution. The latest update, Sabayon 5.3, was made available to the public in early June. Installation images are available for the GNOME, KDE, LXDE and Xfce desktop environments. This review is based on the GNOME edition. The [...] (General)

Enlarged bold in LXDE terminals under Gentooview story

http://www.linuxquestions.org – I just finished installing LXDE onto my Hardened Gentoo laptop (HP Pavilion dv4000, Intel integrated graphics) and noticed text misalignment in the terminal. I tried emerging Terminal, my favorite terminal from Xfce4, but it also had the effect. This effect appears to be specific to the Monospace font (my favorite) with bold enabled. (HowTos)

How to install Sabayon 5.3 on a btrfs filesystemview story

http://linuxbsdos.com – Thanks to its use of Anaconda, the Fedora installer, Sabayon 5.3, the latest release of the Gentoo-based distribution, is one of the first Linux distributions with support for the btrfs file system. Btrfs is one of the newest filesystems in the Linux kernel. It is similar to Oracle’s ZFS, but lacks ZFS’ more advanced features. [...] (General)

so I compiled a kernel today...view story

http://crunchbanglinux.org – Well I have been using Linux since 2000 and this is the first time I ever have actually compiled a (self) customized kernel. To be honest there was never much of a point before, but my netbook's Intel Atom n270 mediocre performance finally made me decide it was worth trying and I figured since I am replacing Mint 7 with Gentoo on it I might as well try something different. nVidia drivers & PCI I/O MEM issuesview story

http://forums.opensuse.org – Well, this is disappointing: I've upgraded from 11.2 to 11.3 for some of the various changes made to the base system, and my nVidia driver will no longer load. This was a problem with previous releases (especially with kernels before 2.6.30), but was fixed with the 11.2 release (i.e., I didn't have to do any fiddling - just install the nvidia driver and off we go). Here are some specifics : (Distributions)
