That is something that I thought of, and I did try all combinations of video card options in the BIOS (and including other devices). That did not change how it worked.I did find something very interesting, however. I installed Gentoo as a test and it worked without too much fuss. I made a backup of my /boot folder before wiping the drive and putting back Arch. (HowTos)
