Most often, my system crashes while using a Flash heavy site(FB games like Cityville or Millionaire City) and even playing online videos from really any site. Every time it happens, though, the next boot drops me into an emergency shell and tells me to run fsck manually. This has happened more than once, and each time the system boots fine after running fsck. When I used Ubuntu I never had to run it manually. (HowTos)
Email this pagehttp://serverfault.com – Our operations team was trying to shrink an LVM logical volume, and forgot to shrink the partition sitting on top of it first. They got a bunch of errors, and made the mistake of running e2fsck right away to try and fix the disk. Needless to say, the box was not happy. As of this morning I hopped on the box and was able to salvage it by restoring the LV to 100% of the disk. (HowTos)
