Fedora 17 - NetworkManager bridges and vlansview story

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – I have just installed a Fedora 17 test system to have a look at the new NetworkManager features as stated in http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Featur...riseNetworking which shows the work as 100% complete. I wasn't surprised to see nothing in the Gnome and KDE GUI interfaces but even configuring the ifcfg files manually results in bridge, vlan, etc unsupported messages in the logs. What is the s (HowTos)

Intel H77?view story

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – I'm considering the purchase of a Puget Systems Echo I HDPC. It features an Intel DH77DF (Intel H77 MiniITX) MB. Can anyone say (or point me to a source) if the H77 graphics are supported (have the appropriate driver) under Fedora 16. Thanks. (HowTos)

Anyone Made a 64-bit vs. 32-bit Video?view story

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – I installed the 64-bit version of Fedora 17 this week. GIMP and LibreOffice launch maybe faster than on Windows 7 on the same machine and faster than on my Mac Pro 8-Core (I haven't timed them). So, I was wondering has anyone made videos demonstrating for example the launch speeds of heavy programs on 64-bit versus 32-bit Fedora? Or versus Windows/Mac? (HowTos)

Toshiba Laptop Battery SOLUTIONview story

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – My daughter's 64 bit Toshiba Satellite L655 suffered from the common Toshiba laptop problem of “Invisible battery” under Fedora 16. dmesg | grep batt would report “Battery absent”. This appears to be common with Toshiba laptops under Fedora, Ubuntu, Centos, Debian, and BackTrack Linux. Online research pointed to custom kernels, which sound like a headache; and a simpler way using Grub2. (HowTos)

Bootable USB using F17 DVD imageview story

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – I'm just wondering, has anyone installed F17 from a USB drive created by dding the DVD image? Does it work now, or does it still fail to find the local packages? (I'm planning to reformat and install on BTRFS, so I'd rather avoid a nasty surprise...) (HowTos)

Gnome 3.4.1 Application icon-grid paddingview story

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – Something odd I noticed when applying themes to the gnome shell. When clicking activities -> then applications, all the Icons are squished together, I checked the .css and it looks normal: Code: .icon-grid {     spacing: 36px;     -shell-grid-item-size: 118px; /*search-result-button-size*/ } .contact-grid {     spacing: 36px;     -shell-g (HowTos)

automounting firewire drives in gnome?view story

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – I noticed that my firewire drives don't automount in gnome. In fact, I can't seem to mount them without having to authenticate like I can with USB drives. Is there something special about firewire drives from USB drives? (HowTos)
