Need help interpreting crash .dmp file [migrated]view story

http://serverfault.com – My computer crashed during a game of League of Legends. I rebooted and activated Verifier.exe to check all my drivers upon restart. On rebooting I got another BSOD with error message DRIVER_VERIFIER_IOMANAGER_VIOLATION. I tried force restarting a couple times, but the automatic repair was not working. (HowTos)

Synaptics TouchPad gesture suite driversview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hi all, I recently bought an Acer Aspire V5-572G-6679 with a nifty multi-touch pad and neat gesture software. It worked in windows 8, but I got rid of that and put on 12.04. However, I can't figure out how to make the advanced features work. The synaptics website has a page on their linux driver, but doesn't seem to provide it anywhere. (Hardware)

UEFI, gummiboot, EFISTUB, --> wrong partuuidview story

https://bbs.archlinux.org – I recommend using the device filename (as in "root=/dev/sda1"). This was the original method used, years ago, long before UUIDs and GUIDs were supported for this sort of thing. It's also the shortest one to type, and so is the least likely to fall victim to a typo. (HowTos)

The build went without hitch and I've got my OS and a bunch of games etc. installed. All my motherboard drivers are installed (Chipset, MEI & Audio), I'm running the latest WHQL nvidia drivers and Windows is fully updated too. There are no unknown devices showing in Device Manager. Screen resolution problemsview story

http://superuser.com – UPDATE 2: At the moment, I don't have the Intel HD drivers installed. I am currently working with just the generic Microsoft auto detected drivers. With these drivers, I can set the resolution to native resolution, but after a restart, it goes back to 800x600. However, with the Intel HD drivers installed, it's worse, It doesn't let me choose the native resolution at all. (HowTos)

ati x1950view story

http://forums.anandtech.com – I had to break out my old x1950 to fill in for a broken onboard video (I'll figure the RMA out later). Anyone know how I can update the drivers in windows 8.1? AMD does not support win 8 with this card and I can only use it as a basic video card (1024x768) ideally I'd like to get 1080 out of it *Windows 7 driver will not run* (Hardware)

restricted drivers not showing up when syslinux.cfg is used to boot livecd straight to desktopview story

http://askubuntu.com – I have created a custom LiveCD of Ubuntu 12.04.3 32bit using UCK. I created a bootable USB using Startup Disk Creator and I am able to detect and install restricted drivers without a problem when selecting "Try Ubuntu" or Install from Ubiquity. However, after editing the syslinux.cfg file as show here, no restricted drivers are found. (HowTos)
