Shouldn't use more than 75% of SSD??view story

http://forums.anandtech.com – I'm fairly new to this tidbit... it seems that using more than ~75% of a SSD begins to really affect its performance. If this is the case, is it across the physical disk? (Say, an entire 120GB SSD) or is per partition? (Hardware)

I've tried twice to write a debian ISO to a cd-r but there are write errors. Are the disks ruined?view story

http://unix.stackexchange.com – I know that in Windows I was able to format blank cd-r to work as USB so I'm wondering if I can still do that even though they have corrupted iso images burned onto them. (Right now I'm in Ubuntu) I'm using k3b to burn the images and both times I tried, the installation wouldn't complete because of problems with the disk. (HowTos)

Trying to boot any version of linux or boot-repair off USB/DVD failsview story

http://askubuntu.com – I am trying to dual boot Windows 7 and Ubuntu 13.10. After using Lili USB creator and also burning the Ubuntu .iso onto a DVD, I tried both, (at different times!) and I get to the purple menu that asks whether I want to Try, install, or check disk. Any option I select yields a blackish screen with a random letter highlighted (probably 8 size font) in a random color. (HowTos)

restore fails due to insufficent disk spaceview story

http://serverfault.com – I'm trying to test my sbs 2008 backup by restoring to a vm on a hyper v server. The sobs is a physical machine. I created two vhdx each at 1TB in (fixed) size, which is larger than the actual disks which are 233 and 466 GB each. The restore fails almost immediately with this message: The physical server has two other disks which are not backed up if that matters. (HowTos)

Correct way to copy vm diskview story

http://serverfault.com – I have a VM’s disk to copy from one host to another for live migration. I can think of two ways to copy the VM’s disk. Do a snapshot of the Logical Volume in the original host, create a Logical Volume in the destination host of the same size. (HowTos)

Windows 8 Fast Boot or Hibernate not working? Possible solution inside. - 0xC00000D4view story

http://forums.anandtech.com – It seems that on Windows 8.1 (& maybe 8) if you have any devices disabled in device manager Fast Boot/Hibernation gets confused and sees them as a new device. You can't even disable a Bluetooth adapter in Network settings or set a disk to Offline in Disk Management. (Hardware)
