Does the 12.10 Wubi install work with Windows XP SP3?view story

http://askubuntu.com – I did a fresh installation of XP SP3 on an IBM ThinkPad T40, 512 MB of RAM, Pentium M 1.5 GHz processor. I ran the wubi executable for 12.10 and let it download and unpack the image. When it said I needed to reboot the computer to complete the installation, I let Wubi restart it. During the reboot, it never came up to the boot menu and just booted into windows. (HowTos)

F18 installer - How to make multiple LVM volume groups?view story

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – I like LVM because of the easier resizing. But I also like to know where my data are. For example, if I've got a slow old drive and a big new drive, or a SSD and a spinning disk, I want to choose which one /home is on, vs /usr and /var. I had the F18 installer repartition and reformat everything and make a physical volume to occupy each disk. So far so good. (HowTos)

Removing Debian Installation Promptview story

http://unix.stackexchange.com – I attempted to install Debian through a CD, with the initial .exe working fine. However, when I rebooted and went through the installation procedure, my system could not tell that there was a disk there (or the media was unreadable). Now whenever I boot up my computer, I get the choice between continuing on to windows or to complete my installation. How do I remove that choice? (HowTos)

During boot, the screen shows the E500 getting initialized. If I don't have the MSA50 connected, the boot screen then says '0 Logical Drives. (HowTos)

HP p400 reports physical drives incorrectlyview story

http://serverfault.com – I've been researching on this the majority of the day, when I had time to blow. But now it's just becoming a headache, when I ask the HP P400 for detailed Information on the drives connected to the backplane it gives them all the same drive number, and model. I believe it is related to the problem in http://www.motherboardpoint.com/hp-p400-raid-controller-reporting-p-disk... (HowTos)

File System Checking - Best Practicesview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – Is there any sense in running fsck -N first or should we just use -y right away and get it all over and done with fast? When we run fsck or e2fsck with the -y option and there are some serious file system problems, it silently unlinks any orphaned files to the lost+found. That's all fine and dandy when there's no big problems, normally no files need to be unlinked and fsck just runs and fixes t (Hardware)
