[ubuntu] Wireless dropouts on Dell Studio 15 Broadcom 4353)view story

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hi All, I have a new Dell Studio 1558 with Lucid 64-bit installed and have been struggling with the wireless for quite a while now. Generally when I boot the wireless will connect properly, but at some random point in the future (eg. in 30 mins) it will just disconnect and ask for the password again. It then often has trouble re-connecting, sometimes requiring a reboot. (HowTos)

http://crunchbanglinux.org – this is my 6th distro for testing with my dell inspiron 1100 and i read a post that it works really great with my box so im installing it right now and give it a try. tried ubuntu(8.04, 9.04, 9.10), mint(helena, gloria), antix(8.5), slitaz(3.0), peppermintos(1.0). 3 of the distros work but barely do the job because its a full desktop and my box is really old. so i hope #! http://www.linuxquestions.org – hi people, i had slackware 13.0 on my dell vostro 1320 and it was all good, but since the upgrade to 13.1 i cannot change the screen brightness with ctrl+up and ctrl+down keys... i'm not even sure how to start with this problem. from what i understand these keys 'call' a bios function...? so that would mean that some kernel module is not being loaded? Posted Disk made Ubuntu installation seamlessview story

http://www.linuxquestions.org – I invested $15.00 in a Posted Disk with Ubuntu from On-Disk.com. Best $15 I ever spent. With it I installed Ubuntu 10.4 on my Dell Latitude and a Lenovo R61i (both laptops and Ubuntu installation on laptops has historically been challenging). Everything, including wireless, worked without any tinkering on my part. Installation on both machines took less than an hour. (HowTos)
