find with prune option help neededview story

http://www.unix.com – Hello, I am using ksh93 (/usr/dt/bin/dtksh) on Solaris and am stuck when trying to use find with the -prune option. I need to search a directory (supplied in a variable) for files matching a certain pattern, but ignore any sub-directories. I have tried: Code: find ${full_path_to_dir_to_search} -type f -name "*.dat" -print -o -type d -prune which produces no output. (HowTos)

BASH: Newline or HR after long command outputview story

http://serverfault.com – Is there any way to configure Bash to print a newline or horizontal line after commands that provided more than N lines of output? For instance, after a simple cd I don't need a newline or horizontal line, but after a long cat a visual indication of the end of each command's output would be great when I am comparing the output of various commands. Thanks. (HowTos)

What do mkfs.xfs and modprobe do when mounting an Amazon EBS instance?view story

http://unix.stackexchange.com – I'm looking through this guide for how to add an EBS volume to an Amazon EC2 instance, and I've found this little part of instructions hard to follow: Create an XFS file system on the EBS volume and mount it as /vol grep -q xfs /proc/filesystems || sudo modprobe xfs sudo mkfs.xfs /dev/sdh echo "/dev/sdh /vol xfs noatime 0 0" | sudo tee -a /etc/fstab sudo mkdir -m 000 /vol sudo mount /vol (HowTos)

LightDM does not appear after installing a driver from Additional Driversview story

http://askubuntu.com – I simply was looking at the default drivers it gave me (under System Settings->Additional Drivers) and I selected version 96 and activated it. After it installed it asked me to restart, and I did. Now it will not boot back up; the problem is that LightDM will not come up. I am new to Ubuntu, and I need to know a command to shut down all drivers or something. (HowTos)

Session freezes when using the screen commandview story

http://askubuntu.com – This happens to me once every couple of hours. When I use the screen command and attempt to switch between windows by pressing ctrl+shift+a twice in succession, my session freezes. This has happened to me when I've used putty to ssh to cloud servers and also to servers in my LAN at home. Does anyone know any fixes to this? (HowTos)
