what does this ssh command mean?view story

http://unix.stackexchange.com – Its an answer I got from questioning about port forwarding but I'm not sure what it means.. $ ssh lab_desktop -L 2200:lab_server:22 -vvv my wild guess: first get connect to lab_desktop and then again log into lab_server(port 22) and the received data from this connection will be forwarded to lab_desktop, port 2200. is my wild guess right?? but I still don't understand what that '-vvv' means (HowTos)

Convert seconds since epoch to a human readable stringview story

http://askubuntu.com – Command date +%s produces 1403568422. Is there an easy way to convert the 1403568422 to a human readable UTC timestamp? python -c "import datetime;print datetime.datetime.utcfromtimestamp(1403568422).isoformat()" kind of works; I can also write a short C program to do the same thing. Is there a better way? Clarification I do not want to make date print the current time in UTC. (HowTos)

grub2/initramfs disaster recoveryview story

http://serverfault.com – One of my ubuntu 12.04 is a vm on vmware ESXi host. It has separate boot and root partition. One developer did fsck on the live root partition by mistake and this vm can only boot to initramfs mode with some errors - "/proc is not found". My understanding is root partition inode table was damaged causing read error. This might be fixed by fsck the root partition. (HowTos)
